So, uh...why do you read this!?
Real question š
Hello, fellow Sadgurlz/guys/ppl!
I was wonderingā¦and Iād love to knowā¦
Why do you read this newsletter?
According to my analytics, at least 11,000 of you open each email every weekā¦whichā¦is a lot of people now that I think about it, ha. Thank you for reading my sad musings, triumphs, random nerdy rambles, and supporting my creative endeavors. I appreciate it more than you could ever imagine!
Anyway, the other day, I came across a TikTok where a girl described trying out ārejection therapyā to change her life in one year. Basically, she applied to any and everything without being tripped up by her lack of qualifications or societal norms. While I wonāt be eating lunch with strangers, I do want to take more risks and stop being held back by anxiety so much. So, Iām applying for any creative cohorts, writing retreats, and grants I can find.
Part of the process of applying for opportunities is understanding my āwhyā. Itās hard to define what I do or why people engage with my work. Iāve been saying that my writing is meant to add āmagic to the mundaneā by sharing surreal stories of woeful women, and that I share āfiction, fashion, and feelingsā. But is that what you get out of it? Do you see me as an author? An influencer? A creative? A wellness advocate?
Itās hard being a niche-less girlie. Please help š
Book Release Updates
I wanted to give you all updates on How to Escape Death! But first, an FYI:
I have How to Be a Better Adult hardcovers on-hand! I only have 20 copies, though. If youāve ordered recently or choose to order today, Iāll send them out on Monday. If you get one, please take aesthetic pics!
If you ordered both How to Be a Better Adult and How to Escape Death, they will ship together! How to Escape Death has been delayed to later this year, unfortunately. Once I have a concrete date, I will let you all know! I put too much dip on my chip and didnāt factor in a lot that happened in the last year š . I apologize for the delay.

Well, wynaut? Poke pun aside, I relate to a lot of what you've written about and really enjoy how creative your mind is. Growing up black and neurodivergent, never had an outlet to be creative so being an adult now and seeing someone with similar struggles while black and make it in an area, that's usually dominated by white folks, give me hope that I can do the same. My book may never reach the heights of yours, if I ever do publish it, but if it helps someone be their authentic selves then so be it. Happy new year and hope the rest of your year is filled with abundance and unlimited joy!
I really enjoy your musings. People struggle with things, but they're hard to talk about. You share so openly and say it so beautifully. It makes me feel less alone in my struggles and that it's okay to be a sad woman. And sometimes I comment so that maybe I can help you feel less alone too. So to answer your question, your beautiful way of writing melancholy and your continuing commitment to overcoming your struggles moves me and keeps me opening up your emails to see what you have to say this week <3 good luck with this, I hope you're successful and achieve all you desire!
