The rich witch's guide to confidence building.
Claudette Blanc walks us through her bounce back process.
Hi Sad Girls,
It’s time for another Sad Girl Submission! Every week, I’ll share personal essays from fellow Sadgirls in our community. This allows us to share our experiences with each other and normalize emotional expression.
This week’s essay is from Claudette Blanc, a wealthy heir to a witchy hair care empire! Claudette’s on a break from Witching School, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have magical advice to share with us! You can learn more about Claudette on the Tuesday’s Blues Kickstarter page!
If you’d like your essay considered for a future post, check out this post.
Recite magical mantras over and over again until your brain is forced to believe it. I’ve read in my spell books that our brains can’t differentiate between real or perceived threats…and the same goes for beautiful thoughts.
Bonjour beautiful ladies!
In case you’re unfamiliar with me (which would be surprising), I’m Claudette Blanc of the Blanc family. Yes, the Blanc family—owners of La Vanité Magical Hair Care. I know, I know. You’re thinking, “Wow, Claudette Blanc is taking time out of her busy schedule to give us advice?” And yes, I do fancy myself a philanthropist from time to time.
Now, despite my success, fame, and money, there have been moments when even my confidence takes a hit. Whether it’s not being invited to a red carpet premier or added to the VIP guest list of an exclusive afterparty, sometimes life throws curveballs in your direction that you never saw coming. When these setbacks happen, be sure to take a day or two (or three) to cry into your embroidered silk handkerchief. Call upon your coven if you need to. Plan spells and mix potions you’ll never use. Then? Stand to your feet and be the baddest witch you can be! Here’s how!
You are what you think.
Magic is all about intention. We learned this in grade school. So, when an ugly thought zaps its way into your brain, telling you you’re not good enough or talented enough to get to where you want to be? Shake it away. Replace it with positivity. Recite magical mantras over and over again until your brain is forced to believe it. I’ve read in my spell books that our brains can’t differentiate between real or perceived threats…and the same goes for beautiful thoughts. Think of them enough, and you will become who you believe you are.
Celebrate yourself.
Buy yourself a little gift. Just because you exist and you deserve it. The last time I was down, I treated myself to a new designer broomstick. Worked wonders. Maybe purchase a little trinket, a comic book, or a blind box. Mortals seem to love those. Don’t wait for anyone else to celebrate you when you can do it yourself!
Sing!
Singing is a proven coping skill. My therapist said so. And nothing makes me feel more powerful than spinning around my room, dancing and singing to my fave pop hits.
Last but not least, go on dates with wealthy, beautiful women. Always works for me!
Jacque’s note:

We can all agree on the power of a "treat yourself" purchase.
