Good morningggg fellow humans!
I come bearing good news. Remember my hardcover bundle printing mishap? Everything has finally been resolved! 😊 I’ve been signing and shipping, and pre-orders are going out slowly but surely. Thank you to every single person who ordered! If you’d like a signed hardcover, or a bundled box, you can order at jacqueaye.com.
Not Another Awkward Brunch?!
People tend to invite me to brunches. Maybe because I seem jovial (I’m not) or super friendly (I can be, but I’m also terrified of people), or maybe my bright outfits and big hair give off an air of extroversion. Either way, brunch is a very adult-like event down South and I’ve found myself attending quite a few.
The problem is, once I get to the brunch, I have no idea what to do. What do I do with my hands? How do I eat and engage in conversation? Who do I look at? When do I laugh? What do I say??? I can’t rattle on about dolls and cartoons and deep feelings like I want to. But I also have no interest in talking about careers or investing or social gossip like everyone else. It’s just…awkward. And it doesn’t take long for people to notice that something’s just off with me. It’s like I’m an alien wearing a human skin suit, and it’s slowly peeling at the seams. My mannerisms become stranger. My rehearsed banter comes out all wrong. I usually don’t get a second invite.
Anywho, that’s why I decided to celebrate my latest book, How to Be a Better Adult, by hosting an anti-brunch! I’m summoning all my fellow awkward adults to Cidercade in Dallas, TX, this Sunday (2.26.23) to play arcade games, eat pizza, and potentially make new friends. I’ll be there with my cover artist Whytmanga, and we’ll be signing a few books for a giveaway. I chose an arcade because we won’t have to talk at all. Those who prefer quiet will be able to duck off into a corner without feeling awkward. The people who want to chat but struggle with conversation will be able to play games together. No pressure, just fun times! And I’ll have free pizza!
The Reviews Are In!
I’ve gotten a few reviews of my book already and I’m so excited to see people enjoying Hope’s whimsical journey. I know it’s a weird read, ha, so I don’t know what I was expecting 😆 but it’s been so nice to see feedback!
And that’s all, folks!
