Hey, Sad Girls!
In a world full of messy emotions, misunderstandings, and deeply embedded fear, connecting with people can feel…spooky. You never know what anyone’s thinking, so it feels safer to act on assumptions that could be incorrect, but…what else can you do to protect yourself from potential emotional pain?
It’s like a cycle. Someone harms us, and to avoid future harm, we harm others. They go on to harm others. And they go on to harm others. And then you realize…everyone kinda sucks, right?
And that’s really what Tuesday’s Blues is about. Behind the magical comedy and bits of spice lies a story about three flawed women dating other flawed people…and creatures…while trying to make ends meet.
Shadow’s a monster who's never experienced the mortal world. After an eternity engulfed in darkness, she struggles to make sense of connections. She can’t really read hints, tone, or body language. This leads to frustrations and misunderstandings on both ends.
Claudette’s been spoiled all her life. Her worth and sense of self are tied to her wealth. When that’s stripped away, she desperately clings to status, using rich and influential women for proximity and a sense of control.
Tuesday’s open-minded and loves connecting with new people. But she’s also been pretty beaten down by life and runs away when things feel more serious than she thinks she can handle. Why work on something that may end up in flames, anyway?
The world of Tuesday’s Blues is surreal, somewhat spicy, and very silly, but still very, very relatable. We’re 79% funded, and I’m determined to cross the finish line by tomorrow! I’d love to hit stretch goals so we can include stories from Jamila Rowser (writer of Wash Day Diaries) and Briana Lawrence (published author of magical tales).
Just a reminder that Kickstarter does not charge you until the campaign is over, and if we reach our funding goal.
Free Short Story Sample!
Claudette’s coven has been consoling her after a breakup with her wealthy ex-girlfriend. But things take a turn as hidden attractions rise to the surface. This sample won’t be included in the final project, however it does give you a taste of the kind of “everybody sucks” situations you may find in the book.
If you already downloaded it before today, you have an old version. I edited it to make Claudette’s personality and the dynamic between her and her coven clearer, so…you may want to redownload!
